Hon Chong

Hòn Chồng is a unique work created by the hands of mother nature. This rocky beach is located on the coast of Nha Trang, with an unusual shape. Over time, the large rocks are eroded, and weathered by sea waves and wind, creating a magnificent beauty that makes many visitors curious and excited.

Hòn Chồng and Hòn Vợ are two separate rocky beaches located in two different locations but not too far away, so visitors can entirely visit Hòn Chồng first and then conveniently move to Hòn Vợ. There are many stories passed by people here to explain the unique shape of the rocks at Hòn Chồng – Hòn Vợ. The most popular is the story of a couple who work as a fisherman.

Legend has it that one day when there was a big windy storm, a couple got washed up on this beach by the waves. The wife, unfortunately, fell into the water; the husband had one hand clinging to the rock, the other trying to hold onto his wife’s hand. However, human power cannot overcome the cruelty of nature. Ultimately, the husband still couldn’t keep his wife, and the two turned into two big rocks lying between heaven and earth to be together forever. The dents on the large rock are thought to be caused by the husband’s hand clinging to the rock too tightly.

This story also explains why Hòn Vợ and Hòn Chồng are pretty close. This is considered a symbol of loyalty and is handed down by the people here to this day. The magnificent beauty of these rocky beaches is evident and hard to deny. This is also why the rocky beach attracts the attention of many tourists when coming to this beautiful land of Nha Trang.

Directions to Hòn Chồng: Go along Tran Phu Street over Pham Van Dong overpass and look to the right. You will see a path leading down to Hòn Chồng. Not far from Hòn Chồng, there is another smaller rock located at the foot of the eastern hill, and this is Hòn Vợ.
