Long Son Pagoda

Long Sơn Pagoda is known as the oldest ancient temple in Nha Trang. This place owns the most prominent outdoor Buddha statue named in the Vietnam Guinness Book of Records. This place attracts a lot of tourists who often visit every occasion to visit this coastal city.

Long Sơn Pagoda was built in the 19th century, bringing unique and delicate sculptural features from ancient times. After hundreds of years after many restorations, Long Sơn Pagoda has been certified as the oldest pagoda in Vietnam. Long Sơn Pagoda in Nha Trang has an area of more than 3000m2, with unique architecture carved impressively, meticulously, and boldly Asian. Harmonizing with this architectural work are rows of tall and ancient trees, spreading their foliage to give shade, making the air around the temple always fresh and very cool.

When entering Long Sơn Pagoda, the first impression right in front of your eyes will be stone towers, lamp posts, and reliefs carved with sophisticated patterns in harmony with the delicate architecture of each temple roof. There will be two three-step steps from the temple yard to the main hall. In the middle is a porcelain mosaic engraved with the dragon’s face and the word “Vạn.” Although the temple’s main entrance could be more magnificent, it is very dignified; the statue of Buddha sitting and preaching is arranged in the center of the shrine.

The statues here are all made of bronze with a weight of more than 700 kg and a height of nearly 2m. In the center of the main hall, there are still two giant candles carved with dragons and delicate lotus flowers weighing up to 900 kg and up to 3.4m high – this is a pair of candles that have achieved a Vietnamese record to date.

A particular highlight of Long Sơn Pagoda in Nha Trang is the statue of Kim Than Phat To (White Buddha) on the top of Trai Thuy hill with 193 steps, which was built in 1963. This is a Buddha statue more than 24 meters high, meditating on the top of 7-meter Lotus tower, showing majestic spirit, surrounded by statues of 7 martyrs.

Standing at the top of the hill from Long Sơn pagoda, visitors will admire the surrounding nature and panoramic view of Nha Trang city in sight. You should be in harmony with nature and experience the fresh air at the Buddha’s door to regain your soul’s purity, and all worries will be quickly erased.
